The Medina Police Department is a State Accredited Law Enforcement Agency committed to working closely with the citizens of Medina and Hunts Point. One of our main goals is to be responsive to the needs and desires of the community through excellent police service. The Department has worked hard to develop relationships built on trust and respect within the community, as well as, area law enforcement agencies. The City has provided youth interaction services for several years in Medina schools. Under this program, an officer visits schools to build relationships with students and staff, while providing practical training on resisting drugs and alcohol and dealing with peer pressure.

The Department also provides full services such as; criminal investigations, issuance of concealed weapons permits, fingerprinting for employment, professional licensing or governmental requirements, City Code enforcement, animal control, and house watch.

Chief Mark Thomas comes to the Department after a distinguished 26 year career at the Washington State Patrol.  Lieutenant Dan Yourkoski has over 11 years of experience.  The first level supervisor is Sergeant John Kane who has over 22 years of police experience.  The Officers are Emmet KnottMike GiriasJames Martin, Christina Morovics and Brady Halverson. All Medina Police Officers have graduated from the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy and passed rigorous testing and background checks prior to being assigned their first shift as a Medina Police Officer.

Linda Crum serves as the Police Records Manager. Linda provides administrative support for the Chief of Police in coordinating various intra-agency meetings and provides reports for administrative review and implementation.  She also maintains technical police records, provides administrative support and processes requests for dissemination according to state public disclosure act.  Linda is the Department’s Technical Agency Coordinator for the Washington Criminal Information System, and is subject to comply with audit requirements of the Washington State Patrol.  She produces crime statistics for state crime analysis and for local administrative review.  Lastly, Linda works to develop community partnerships through the education of individuals and community groups in various aspects of crime prevention. 

Courtney Meyer  serves as the Police Administrative Specialist and her responsibilities include the coordination of complex and/or sensitive administrative duties to support projects, programs, and services. She performs departmental budget analysis and reporting activities, office systems development and coordination. She is accountable for highly specialized functions such as accreditation systems (WASPC) management, property/evidence management, purchasing, tracking expenditures, inventory control, and compiling and maintaining data in support of varied departmental functions.
