2026 Medina Park North Pond Vegetation Removal

The City of Medina is requesting proposals to manually remove lily pads and associated aquatic vegetation from the North Pond at Medina Park to improve water circulation, pond health, and park aesthetics. The North Pond is estimated to be one acre. This project will be completed using hand tools only and will not involve mechanized equipment, dredging, or chemical treatment.

Scope:
The Contractor shall provide all labor, tools, and materials necessary to complete the following:
A. Site Review and Preparation
- Conduct a pre-construction site walk with City staff.
- Identify priority areas for vegetation removal.
- Establish staging and debris collection areas.
B. Manual Vegetation Removal
- Remove lily pads and associated aquatic plants using hand tools only (rakes, cutters, hand-pull methods, etc.).
- Removal includes both surface leaves and accessible root structures.
- No motorized equipment, excavation, or sediment disturbance is permitted.
C. Debris Collection and Disposal
- Collect all removed plant material daily.
- Prevent re-entry of debris into the pond.
- Dispose of material offsite in accordance with waste regulations.
D. Environmental Protection
- No chemicals, herbicides, or mechanical harvesters shall be used.
- Disturbance to pond sediments, wildlife, and surrounding vegetation shall be minimized.
- No fueling, equipment washing, or material storage is permitted near the water.
